Dear Writer,
Yesterday I had you list all the ways you create. I bet you didn’t even get all of the ways, but your list is a start.
Now I want you to think about how you feel when you create something. Not in the act of creation; that’s usually some measure of drudgery. But after it’s done. How does it feel to have created?
Kinda great, right? That’s what we chase; the intense satisfaction of having created.
Here’s a mental exercise for you:
Take a look around you. Do you see the walls of your living room, office, or bedroom? A television? Are you outside? Do you see cars? What are you reading this on? Your phone? Your computer?
We started in caves, y’all.
Caves.
And from that, we have made legitimate goddamn magic. You have all of human knowledge in your fucking pocket right now, and we started in caves.
Drywall. Highways. Electric toothbrushes. Lasagna. Vaccines. We created it all.
Pretty cool, huh?
Everything,
L
"Drywall. Highways. Electric toothbrushes. Lasagna. Vaccines."
Such a great list!
