The Plan...
Dear Writer,
I’ve had a little time to play in this Substack format and I have to tell you… I love it!
This connection between us is getting me to write something, every day. Something connected to writing. Something truly meaningful. I get up every day, and I can’t wait to write to you. It’s so much damn fun. Thank you, so much, for inspiring me to get back to the thing that I love the most about what I do; talking to writers about writing.
Now that I’ve had some time to play in Substack and think about things, I’ve made some decisions as to how this is all going to work, and I wanted to share those thoughts with you.
For the Free Tier:
Every weekday, I will be sending out the quick little missives of writing inspiration and advice.
For all of November (Nanowrimo), I will be sending Nano-specific bits of advice every day; not just weekdays.
For Paid Subscribers:
You get the free stuff, of course, plus:
Every Saturday, I will send out a longer, more personal letter, talking about what I’m doing, what I’m reading, what I’m writing. I will also be answering specific questions from paid subscribers and sharing those answers, with permission, with the rest of the paid subscribers.
In November, I will be sharing my Nanowrimo journey and inviting paid subscribers to come along. Paid subscribers will be invited to a private Discord channel where we can all do live writing sprints together in the Pomodoro method: 25 minutes writing, 5 minutes chatting, and then back again. I am anticipating doing Chipperish full-time by then, so we should be able to sprinkle these throughout the time zones so everyone can play. But also, when I’m sleeping, you all will have access to the chat and do sprints without me, anytime you want.
Between now and then, I’ll be going through my discovery process with you all, and on November 1… we write!
For everyone:
A warning; I will be moving cross-country (hopefully in September) so there might be a slight disruption during those weeks, although I’m hoping I can pre-write enough so y’all won’t notice.
Thank you, so much. You’ve reconnected me to the work I love most in the world, and I’m so grateful.
I’ll be back Monday to start with this new system.
Everything,
L
